Non-technical survey of territories — the first step to a safe space

Non-technical survey is the initial phase of humanitarian demining, during which Deminex specialists identify areas with a potential threat of explosive hazards. This process is carried out without the use of technical means, but it forms the foundation for effective and safe further work.

Imagine a territory liberated after military operations. Where there used to be fields or residential areas, there are now traces of war - craters, rubble, silence and anxiety. In order to sow the land again, build a house or just walk safely along a path, you need to know for sure that this area is safe. This is the task our team works with every day.

What does a non-technical survey include?

A non-technical survey is a combination of analytics, field research and communication with local residents. We don't use metal detectors or machinery - we rely on in-depth analysis instead.

The main stages:
- Gathering information - we study battle data, battle maps, archives, reports from the Armed Forces or local administrations.
- Communication with locals - people who lived in the area during the shelling can often tell us where explosions or ammunition were found.
- Visual inspection of the territory - our specialists record suspicious objects, shell remnants, craters, old signs, and positions.
- Mapping - a map is created to identify dangerous and potentially clean areas.

Why is it necessary?

A non-technical survey allows you to:
- Avoid risk for people returning home or planning to work in the area.
- Direct resources to those areas where there is a real threat - this saves time, money and saves lives.
- Launch the demining process properly - without unnecessary costs and with a clear understanding of the scope of work.

ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • No, it indicates the likelihood of a threat. To guarantee this, a technical survey and demining are required.

  • It depends on the area - usually from 1 to 5 days.

  • Having documents facilitates the work, but is not mandatory - coordinates or verbal consent of the local authorities are sufficient.

  • A full report, a map of potentially dangerous areas, photos, and recommendations.

  • The cost depends on the area and logistics. Contact us and we will make a free preliminary calculation.
